Despite many of still mourning those pleasantly warm summer days we’ve had in July & August, the autumn/winter season is inevitably upon us. I mean – it’s been raining for the past 2 weeks here. What does the sun even look like? I can’t remember anymore. There’s a silver lining there, somewhere, though. In fact, there a couple. One of them being the start of a fancy dinner & party season. That kind that you can dress up for in a sequin dress and a furry shrug without having a sweat patch in the middle of your chest and streaks running down your fake tanned legs. The autumn/winter party season is cosy and requires all things beautiful and sparkly.
WHERE TO BUY THE MOST GORGEOUS EVENING DRESS?
And I won’t be talking no Michael Kors & Burberry dress. Those I think are much more of a staple brands. You go & buy a Burberry handbag because you want it to last 479738323 seasons. You buy a sequin dress because you want to look like a queen but there’s every chance that you won’t wear it again. Hence my selection of 13 stunning dresses that won’t break your bank but will make you look drop dead gorgeous. And where to buy them?
Quiz Clothing (click here)
The ultimate favourite when it comes to affordable but ravishing occasion dresses. The one that’s peeking in the photo above is from Quiz and it’s so long and flowy and I’m in love with the neckline. I’ve totally missed on the exposed/off -shoulder trend this year because I’ve always thought my shoulders were too chunky for it but the pin lace actually gives it such a soft edge. The sequins are ever so subtle and give the dress such an understated sparkle. I was worried the shade was too pale for my autumn paleness but in fact, it compliments it perfectly and makes my new hair colour (have you noticed, have you noticed?) and all my black accessories really pop! Total princess vibes, right there. Can’t wait to wear it to my friend’s wedding in October! You can get the dress right here.
Boohoo (click here)
Boohoo definitely strays from the ‘meeting the councillor dinner’ towards a more ‘going for a dinner date with my bae’. Their dresses are definitely more on the shorter bodycon side and are not as ‘out there’. You will find a lot of variations on darker, more earthy tones here too – burgundy, wine, teal, sometimes even a few khaki numbers pop up.
New Look (click here)
When looking for more affordable numbers you might want to pop into New Look. Not only is there a 20% sale on going on right now, they also have some of the cutest evening dresses I’ve seen. I mean, satin AND floral? Yes, please!
AX Paris (click here)
Want nothing less than a smoking hot bodycon? Then AX Paris will deliver just that. Their dresses are usually on the slightly shorter side but they cling to all the right places. With intricate necklines and unusual lace patterns, you will find the perfect evening dress for every saucy occasion you’ll be attending.
