Do you remember that craze over Biosilk a few years ago? Everyone & their cat was using it and it was meant to give you the softest silkiest mane. Since my hair is like a wire ball you may have guessed that I have never used it – but – that doesn’t mean I have stopped lusting over it. Now I must admit I was mainly put off by its price tag – it costs some £20 for less than 150ml or so in most online stores which is what I’d consider a pricey hair product. This year I started working with a Czech beauty e-shop Bezvavlasy.cz which sells predominantly hair supplies to hairdressers. They have incredibly affordable prices and when I saw they also sell tiny bottles of Biosilk & other magical potions I was hooked. And then I saw that they sell each of them for less than a quid whereas Notino & co sell them for £3-5, like whaaa?!
Who’s Farouk Systems?
Farouk Systems is a Houston-based brand which was created by a group of hairdressers in 1986. These hairdressers (with Farouk Shami in the lead) wanted to create a range of high-quality products for hairdressers which would contain minimum harmful ingredients. Hence why most of their lines contain no parabens, sulphates and chemicals and some are even vegan-friendly. Their most popular range to this day is definitely the Biosilk Silk Therapy and the CHI Silk Infusion line which have been praised by not just bloggers but also celebrity hair stylists. Most of their lines contain hair oils and hair treatments of sorts and the most brilliant thing about this is that they also come in tiny 15ml bottles. This way you can try these dead expensive products before splurging on full sized packaging – and, believe it or not, these tiny bottles can last you MONTHS! You only need the tiniest amount per use!
Which tiny bottles should you try?
Farouk Systems CHI Silk Infusion Reconstruction Complex (buy here)
CHI Silk Infusion Reconstruction Complex has been created to protect your hair from mechanical and environmental damage. Enriched with pure natural silk wheat and soy protein helps strengthen your hair providing incredible softness, manageability and shine without any build-up. It’s alcohol-free and can be used as a heat protectant as well as a leave-in treatment for softer less tangled hair. It’s basically an improved formula of the original Biosilk Silk Therapy treatment which is a little heavier and doesn’t smell as nice as this one does.
Farouk Systems CHI Argan Oil Plus Moringa Oil (buy here)
This is my absolute favourite from the range – I’ve already stocked up on this yet I have not used up the very first bottle yet. That’s how you know that you really love a product, right? CHI Argan Oil is rich in antioxidants and vitamin E. This unique oil blend also while helps to protect against damage from thermal styling and UV rays. The best thing about it is that it’s a dry oil which means you can’t go overboard and be left with a disgusting greasy mop no matter how hard you try. And it smells like a regular perfume – in fact, like a bloody expensive perfume! I would even say that it’s close to the scent of Elie Saab!
Farouk Systems Biosilk Silk Therapy Original (buy here)
Biosilk Silk Therapy contains molecules of double silk which instantly repair, strengthen and seal the hair and add a shine. When you use this regularly it’s meant to repair not just the hairs but also the scalp leaving it healthier and less sensitive. This is most definitely the smelliest out of all these oils – it smells like the 80’s with a hint of motor oil but since it’s the original edition I can kind of understand it. On the other hand, it does make your hair ever so soft after just a single use. I’m considering trying the full Biosilk range because it’s dead cheap on Bezvavlasy.cz, however, I’m still undecided – have you tried it yourself? Let me know in the comments below, please!
Farouk Systems CHI Keratin Silk Infusion (buy here)
CHI Keratin Silk Infusion is an extremely powerful reconstructing complex that heals and hydrates dry damaged hair – so absolutely perfect for my poor bleached hair. As you probably already know – natural keratin rebuilds the hair’s cuticle from the inside and silk penetrates deep into the hair to retain moisture and smooth the cuticle. This unique mix of keratin & silk dramatically improves elasticity and prevents future breakage, while adding intense hydration that restores softness and shine. This little bottle smells beautifully and will make your hair so so soft after just one use.
Farouk Systems CHI Luxury Black Seed Oil (buy here – soon to be restocked)
CHI Luxury Black Seed Oil strengthens and nourishes your hair. Apparently, this is the range that the Kardashians use – which automatically gives it the label of “worth trying”. Because anything that Kim puts on her hair, we all want it, don’t we? Even when we pretend that the Kardashians spark zero interest in us, they do, just stop lying to yourself already. The black cumin oil contained in the composition is an antioxidant and strengthens hair follicles at the roots which means it can prevent hair loss. From the bunch, I’d rate this as the second best smelling – the scent is so strong and luxurious, quite similar to an expensive perfume actually!
Farouk Systems CHI Royal Treatment Pearl Complex (buy here)
CHI Farouk Royal Treatment Pearl Complex is a lightweight leave-in treatment with white truffle and pearl. It’s supposed to replenish, reconstruct and nourish while helping in repairing split ends. I’m not too keen on this one, however, it’s the one I’ve used the least. I find that it does make my hair as smooth as the rest of these tiny magical bottles yet it does not leave such a lovely scent lingering around and it’s maybe a tiny bit greasier than the rest which is a little confusing considering this is the most ‘lightweight’ out of all?
You can use all these products on wet or dry hair and even on your skin! I love using the Argan Oil one on my face and hands and would love to have a larger bottle to use as a massage oil because it just smells so lovely! You can buy these on Bezvavlasy.cz for less than a quid each – they deliver to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Unfortunately at the moment they cannot deliver to the UK but you can easily find all these on Amazon.co.uk & eBay!
Have you ever tried any of these Farouk System treatments & oils?
Which one’s your favourite?
