We are all incredibly aware of the tiniest changes on our bodies. Even more so when you’re a woman who loves putting a tad of make-up on. Every single morning your face is literally in the spotlight. We use bloody magnifying mirrors to inspect all the little pimples and pores, every crow foot we can spot, every baby hair that crosses the hair line a touch too much making it look like our cheeks are growing a fuzzy winter coat. It’s not something we do deliberately – it’s just a side effect of looking damn immaculate every day. And one of the areas that can really start bothering you are your eyelids. Mine get on my nerves too, a little bit – they’re not exactly saggy (God forbid – at 29 they most definitely shouldn’t be saggy, should they?!), but I’ve always had a bit of excess skin that rolls over my eye when it’s open. It’s not a big deal, we’re all different and unique and all that, but when you spend good 30 minutes applying the perfect cut crease or mastering the most beautiful and EVEN flick, then the last thing you want is a roll of skin folding over it like a dark shadow over Mordor. But it’s 2018 and the world has a solution for almost everything – even this hooded eye of mine! Let me show you how you can use the Contour RX Lids by Design set to lift and smooth out your eyelid like a pro!
What is the Contour RX Lids by Design set?
The Contours Rx LIDS BY DESIGN set is a set of dermatologist-tested eyelid strips that are made from high quality medical grade materials which you place on your lid (they are sticky so they adhere very easily) and that way create a much larger eyelid. The strips come in different sizes (from 3mm to 8mm) and they are hypoallergenic and latex free so you don’t have to be worried about any side effects or nasty rash. In the kit you also get a set of plastic tweezers to help you maneuver the little sticky strips in the right place. They are super comfortable and you barely feel them on the eye. Each pack contains 80 strips which is about a month’s supply plus some more in case you need to practice. You can also buy the COLORSET pencil primer, which is an eyelid primer specifically created for application over the strips to make eye shadow pigment blend in better with the strip. And if you’re feeling really fancy you can also get the precision tweezers– which are in fact super handy to use with the strips, as they have the most precise needle-nose I’ve ever seen on tweezers. They lift the strips ever so easily so there’s absolutely no chance you mess up when using these.
My thoughts on the Contour RX Lids by Design – and the lifted eyelid effect
To be completely honest with you, my expectations weren’t particularly high when I first heard about this concept. I’m aware that mainly Asian women who have naturally very hooded eyes use similar tools to create a larger lid to apply eye make-up in an easier way (and to also have a larger canvas to work with). I’ve never thought, though, to use it on my own ever so slightly hooded eyes. I was incredibly surprised when I first applied the strips – they were so easy to use and they made such a massive difference to the shape of my eye. My eyes look certainly smaller and a little more closed with the strips on (I’d like to think they look a little more sexy giving me that seductive Megan Fox look – haha, yeah, Tereza, dream on!) but there is a large space on the lid to apply make-up. They also make me look more rested – there is absolutely no excess skin when I look down and even when I’m looking up the eyebrow is slightly more lifted. You can certainly feel the strips on the eye but it’s very similar to the feeling you get when you put on fake eyelashes. It bothers you for about a minute and then you forget it’s even on. The primer pencil definitely helps to make the strip look more invisible and I would recommend using the strips with some make-up or at least a thick flick as they can be a little visible on the naked eye.
You can definitely see the huge difference these strips make once you apply them. In the top photo you can see that even though my eyes aren’t all that hooded, the strip (8mm) makes a massive difference. It makes the eyelid very prominent and super smooth. I can imagine that on very hooded eyes the difference would be absolutely mind blowing. I do think these are great for either women who do have hooded eyes and are just not happy with them (they are a right pain to do make-up on and my mum could vouch for that) or for women who love make-up and could do with a little eyelid extension, so to speak, and smoothing out. Even bloggers who need to show off a beautiful eye shadow look could use these to create a larger and smoother canvas to work with. Have a look at this picture to see the difference these strips can make!

I’ve accumulated so many new make-up bits and bobs over the past 8 months here in Prague and I cannot wait to show you everything! Have you seen the fancy hair scrubber dub I’ve blogged about a few weeks ago? You can find the post about Urban Alchemy Opus Magnum hair scrub right here!
Have you tried these eyelid strips before?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on them!
