As you might know from my Twitter I’ve recently moved to Prague. It’s been one of the biggest dreams of mine and despite it not turning exactly the way I imagined (but then what does in life, right?) it’s been a wonderful experience so far. I will write a whole blog post about what it’s actually like to move to a different city (take two in my case) but for now I have a brilliant blog post for you by the loveliest Laramie who blogs over on Lifestyle with Laramie. Laramie is a lifestyle blogger and a professional photographer based in Florida and today she will tell you 8 reasons why living in Sarasota, Florida is the absolute best!
WHY SHOULD YOU MOVE TO SARASOTA?
?? Art way of life
Sarasota is unlike any other city I know when it comes to the art scene. Sarasota is home to The Ringling Museum and the Asolo Theatre, both historic and inspiring places for artists and performers, along with many other galleries and theaters that inspire any age through all forms of art. Even growing up, every school I attended encouraged students to be part of the art program by offering drama, dance, photography and several other art classes. Sarasota is the place to be whether you are an artist or a lover of the arts. Sarasota also hosts some amazing art events that in turn bring the community together and showcase both local talent and artists from around the world.
?? Food of every kind
Whatever type of food you are in the mood for, Sarasota has it! The Sarasota food scene is forever evolving, with restaurants opening every day. Without a doubt, Sarasota has great food. Of course we have the chains like everyone else, but the number of successful one of a kind places is unbelievable. It doesn’t matter if you want Peruvian, Greek, Vietnamese, or any other kind of food, we have it!
?? Water feeds the soul
Sarasota is famous for the nation’s best beach, Siesta Key. With its cool soft sand and beautiful blue water Siesta key is a destination for any vacationer. However, we are home to several other beaches as well, all different and unique in their own way. Without traveling to far you will hit Lido Beach, Turtle Beach, and Longboat Key just to name a few. Who doesn’t love being by the water?
?? Nature everywhere
Yes, Sarasota is a growing city but we have tons of nature everywhere. We are home to Myakka River State Park, one of Florida’s largest state parks. It is home to wildlife and beautiful nature wherever you turn. Myakka is also a great place for outdoor activities and camping. Sarasota is also home to the Celery Fields, home to the local Audubon Society and part of the Florida Birding Trail. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. It’s one of my favorite places!
?? Shopaholics anonymous
Sarasota is home to some of the best shopping around! The newest of our malls, the Mall at UTC, will feed your need for any brand name item as well as your luxury taste. We also have St. Armand’s Circle which has all kinds of unique shops and styles that you can’t get at a mall. Everything out on the circle is different and that’s what it is known for, step out of the box and into the circle.
?? Sports of all kinds
I know everywhere has sports of all different kinds but we have a big variety of sports and activities in Sarasota. Sarasota has unique sports that draw national and international athletes. Our city hosts the World Class Rowing Championships. Along with that we also have international BMX bike races. To top it off we also host World Pentathlon Competitions. It’s so amazing to see so many different sports come to our city!
?? Ever changing and evolving community
One thing I truly appreciate is that Sarasota is always evolving and changing. I’ve seen it go from a small town to a booming city just in my lifetime. The community supports diversity and change with events from school age and up and connects people in ways you can’t begin to dream of. The city has also changed what it brings to the table when it comes to hosting events. Whether it be for charity or fundraising occasions the city has worked to bring the community together. People used to come to Sarasota for the beach, now it’s more for the community or events the city is hosting.
?? Lifestyle you only dream of
Sarasota is truly a place you want to live for the lifestyle. There is so much going on that living in Sarasota never gets boring, with art events, walking down by the marina, or shopping at the new store that just opened, there is always something to do! Sarasota also supports a healthy lifestyle. Whether you walk the Ringling Bridge, bike the trails, or do yoga on the beach, staying active is a part of everyday life here. Living by the water is another plus as the vibe you get in this city is so relaxed and nothing is worth being upset over, it puts you in a good mood just being in Sarasota. We have a saying here, I live where you vacation! Need a say more?
