Studying fashion in London – A great start to your career

Studying fashion in London - A great start to your career

Read in English only

If you are intrigued by the idea of getting into fashion, then you will almost certainly need to gain some kind of qualification. There are many areas of fashion you can choose to get into, and depending on what you decide you might find that you have a range of potential courses to choose between. But if you are in the UK and you are interested in learning fashion, then there is one place that is likely to stand above the rest. London is easily the fashion capital of the country, and one of the top in Europe, so it is highly likely you will want to go there above anywhere else. Let’s look at what you can do to make the situation as beneficial as possible.

Finding the right course

Arguably the most important thing of all is ensuring that you find the right course in the first place. This can be difficult to do, and it might take you a long time to find one that you think you can be truly happy with. You never really know until you are studying whether or not it is perfect, so to a certain degree you just need to take a bit of a leap. It is vital therefore to at least have a strong idea of what kind of role you think you can imagine yourself in at some point in the future. Having a clear idea of your future in fashion will help you to manufacture it into a reality more easily, so that is worth bearing in mind. Given that, you should be able to find a course that really suits you, and which you think you will be able to truly enjoy.

Living & spending

London is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in, so as a student you will want to try and find ways to reduce the financial burden a little. Fortunately, there are many schemes out there aimed to give you a helping hand on that front. One of your main expenses will be accommodation, which is why you might want to find a cheap alternative if you can. For many students, you can book homestay accommodation and live with a family for a period of time, and this is often much cheaper than many other kinds of accommodation. Or you might be able to live in the halls of your university, if they have any. Be sure to check your options, and work hard to keep your money safe.

Getting the most out of it

Many people say that the educational years go by far too quickly. One thing that is for sure is that you will definitely want to try and make the most of it while you are there. This will ensure you have a better chance of forging the career you want, but it will also mean that you enjoy it more while you are there.

There is little point in not enjoying whatever you are currently doing, so this is hugely important. And once you get your undergraduate in fashion, you can look into moving on into graduate fashion programs.
