France is a beautiful country and it is a wonderful place for a summer vacation. Depending on what you enjoy doing, France really has something for everyone. If you are travelling in group, you’ll be able to keep everybody happy. Here are 5 ways to enjoy France this summer.
Road trip
Going on a road trip is a brilliant way to explore a country. Start your journey at Montpellier and return to Nice. Stop in Aigues-Mortes, a walled village on the sea. Visit Camargues to see vineyards and the famous wild white horses. You can also stop in Monte Carlo, and Grasse, the perfume capital of the world. There is also a fabulous circular route from Paris that goes through Chartres, Le Mans, Rennes, Caen, and Rouen and back to Paris.
Cycling through France
When you think of cycling in France the name Tour de France comes to mind. Brittany is one of the regions in the northwest part of France that is popular among cyclists. The Tour de France circuit passes through this region and this circuit is suitable for cyclists of all ages. You will view beautiful canals, stunning architecture and scenic views along the way. You can visit the Quimper Cathedral in the town of Quimper and Château de Dinan in the town of Dinan. A few other places to visit in this region are Josselin Castle, The Sculptured Rocks and Solidor Tower.
Relax in the South of France
Renting a villa in the South of France is always a great idea for a relaxing break. The south of France is known for its popular Cannes Film Festival, so you can visit Cannes and walk among the stars. There are also untouched sandy beaches and nightlife that seeps from night into day. The Porquerolles Island which is a 15-min ferry ride from the town of Hyères has white coastlines and beautiful vineyards.
You can bike along the marked trails to explore this island and be sure to visit Provence to see medieval villages, scenic vineyards and the stunning coastline. You can visit the Gorges du Verdon, a river valley also known as the Grand Canyon of Europe. You can also watch the yachts creeping into ports in Saint-Tropez.
Explore the French Alps
The French Alps in the summer provides nature lovers stunning scenery and ample amount of sunshine for outdoor activities. You will be able to visit remote villages and resorts and have a relaxing vacation. Indulge in activities such as paragliding, trekking, pot holing, swimming, and mountain biking. A few places do offer summer skiing as well. You will have access to various golf courses surrounded by magnificent scenery. Most of the places to visit are also kid friendly with several activities lined up to keep your kids busy during the vacation.
Indulge in Champagne
Take a vacation in the Champagne region where champagne originated from more than 200 years ago. You can explore the history of the region and learn about how this sparkling wine is made. There are several houses you can visit on your tour to taste different vintage and non vintage champagnes.
There are places open for public visits and places that offer tours only with invitation or appointments. You can shop for bottles or have samples during the tour. Many of the champagne bottles are expensive but there are few places that have reasonably priced bottles due to the growing number of public visitors.
