This article offers some inspiration on three promising proposal ideas. The challenge being, that so many proposal ideas are cliche to the point they feel quite cheesy – which takes away from the authentically romantic notion around the act itself.
Further to this, a lot of people feel the need to engage in a lavish proposal when in truth, one of the best ways to propose is to just keep it personal between the two of you – most people would prefer something genuinely meaningful than a dozen red rose accompanied by a meal overlooking the Eiffel Tower.
That said, there can be a lot of social pressure when it comes to popping the question, and not just social pressure but financial pressure to, for, as you’ll see from 77 Diamonds engagement rings, a decent engagement ring is a significant yet necessary investment.
So, presuming you have the ring taken care of, let’s now take a look at three proposal ideas that are a little more personal than the cliched meal and bunch of roses.
PAMPER EVENING
Set up a pamper evening, perhaps even preparing a little menu, like a homemade meal of different treatments. The best way to do this, is to visit somewhere like Lush as their friendly staff will always give you plenty of advice… their products are natural, and very fragrant plus colourful which adds to the sensory experience.
After a nice bath together, you can offer a massage where, as you massage up her left hand you slip the ring onto her finger (and presuming she hasn’t drifted off into a deep sleep of relaxation) you can gently pop the question in an understated yet deeply intimate way.
PET PROPOSAL
If you are pet parents then what better way than to bring your pet in on the action and place the ring on your pets collar.
SURPRISE PICNIC
A great option, particularly in Spring as the weather is just starting to get warmer and the nights are lighter, is to set up a picnic spot in advance… somewhere beautiful like the Lake District or Scotland, where, perhaps there is a tent that’s been set-up with a banquet of snacks an inflatable bed for the night, and when the moment is right, perhaps whilst gazing up at the stars, you can ask the pertinent question in a moment shared by just the two of you.
In summary, your proposal doesn’t have to be anything flashy – it just needs to be tailored to the person you are with. It should be personal and private, for instance, with the pamper evening option you’ll want to tailor a playlist to her unique tastes and ideally find out her favourite scents in terms of essential oils. Then, for the picnic, you’ll want to make all her favourite treats and tailor them to her preferences (e.g. a particular type of bread for sandwiches). It’s little touches like this that will often mean more than spending a ton of money on unnecessary fanciness; after all, romance isn’t really something you can outsource.
