5 things you should do before the year ends

5 things you should do before the year ends

The year is quickly coming to an end, and that means you’re probably doing a lot of reflecting. Some thoughts that may be passing through your mind are how the year has gone and whether or not you met the goals you set at the beginning of the year. You may also be thinking about what your goals are for next year and what you can do to make sure you meet those targets. Either way, it’s important that while planning for the future and reflecting on the past, you live in the now. Here are a few things you should do before the year ends.

Set SMART goals

Goals are always the buzzword between the end of one year and the beginning of a new one. Although it seems cliché to some, setting goals has changed many people’s lives. However, when setting goals, it’s essential that you set SMART and detailed goals. If not, they’ll be difficult to measure, and you may not end up achieving them at all. When setting a goal, always include how, why and when you plan on achieving these goals so that they’re more tangible and realistic. Remember that SMART goals are specific, measurable, achievable relevant and time-bound.

Go and see a show

Entertainment is an important part of most people’s lives, so why not end the year with a fair share of some? A great idea would be to go and see a show whether it be a musical, listening to the opera, or seeing something in the theatre. Disney on Ice is a perfect show to watch if you want something that makes you feel like a kid again. If you locate a ticket sale, you should be able to get tickets at an affordable rate too.

Make amends

Most people look forward to the new year because they can start off on a fresh slate. However, you can’t do so if you’re going to carry all of the baggage from the previous year into the new one. Let go of any grievances you may have with anyone and find a way to forgive. Doing this should help you let go of grudges and all of the negative emotions that accompany them, so you feel lighter and freer. This could equate to improved mental health and healthier relationships.

Try something new

You shouldn’t enter the new year without making the most of the present one before it ends. Think about trying something new so that you can create lasting memories with the few months left in the year. Do something that is out of the ordinary for you or make it a mission to overcome a fear. This could mean skydiving to overcome your fear of heights or trying new food just for the sake of it.

Celebrate life

Life should be celebrated no matter how things are presently going for you. Write down all of the things that have brought you happiness and joy this year and be thankful because those are all little victories. If you’re able to be grateful for what you have, then you may find getting through next year easier no matter what it has in store.

The end of a year can be just as exciting as the beginning of one. It’s a reminder of how precious life is, how much room for growth there is and also how much you have to celebrate. Remember that as you live out the last couple of weeks in the year.
