Whether you’re quite the outgoing character or whether you’re fairly shy and timid, there are things in this life that can get you down. Confidence and self-esteem play a huge part in each of our lives, and if it’s on the floor, then it can have a massive effect on your life as a whole. Those out there that have found success in life are usually people that have the confidence to go out and take risks. They’re not worried too much about outside influences because their minds are completely at ease with everything.
When you’ve taken quite a knock, it can be quite difficult to build that confidence and self-esteem back up. When it’s a problem at work, a relationship issue or something deeply personal, building yourself up is a tedious and arduous process. Fortunately, there are heaps of things we can do to build confidence. Nobody is born with it, after all – it’s something that grows over time due to internal and external factors. Want to know a few ways you can do it? Well, here are five for you right now:
Spend lots of time with your friends or family
One of the easiest ways you can build yourself back up again is by being around people that you care about, and who care about you. Interaction and attention of sorts are what humans need in life. Being isolated doesn’t suit us – we naturally need to have groups and tribes. Being alone leads to overthinking, too, which only sets you back further.
Exercise
Going out and getting your heart rate up is a great way of boosting your self-esteem. Obviously, you’re going to become more adept at certain physical activities; the feeling of improving and getting better always makes people more confident in themselves. Being active also makes your brain release things called endorphins. These little chemicals will make you feel more positive when approaching absolutely anything life throws at you. You won’t be completely fixed, but it’ll help an awful lot.
Spoil yourself fashion wise
When you look good; you feel good. When you feel good; your life becomes a lot better. That said, you should really splash out on your looks and ensemble from time to time. Firstly, because attracting the right eyes feels great and boosts confidence easily. Secondly, because roaming around in the same get-up for months and months doesn’t do anything in terms of breaking you out of your mundane comfort zone. It can be something as subtle as accessorizing with some Australian Opal Jewellery, or as large as shaking up your entire wardrobe!
Remove yourself from social media for a while
The internet has a lot of great content on it. The internet also has a lot of problems. Social media can be wonderful, but it can also make people feel tiny. The high standards and the fact that anyone can say anything often results in people’s anxiety levels being raised heavily. Stay away from time to time; don’t let yourself get sucked into a world that is, essentially, fictional.
