Tips to keep your floor clean in the home

Tips to keep your floor clean in the home

Cleaning your home is something you should be doing on a weekly or fortnightly basis. It helps you to keep on top of any mess that you and your household produce. Your flooring is something that can tend to get the dirtiest throughout the week, so here are a few tips to keep your floor clean in the home.

Vacuum daily

To stay on top of the mess, you want a good vacuum with a suction that will help bring out all the dirt and grim not only on wooden flooring but particularly on your carpets. Over time, certain stains will start to build up, and if you’re not careful with carpets, there can be darkened areas around the edge of the room that will have a build-up of dirt that’s hard to remove. Ensure you’re cleaning your floors on a daily basis, with a vacuum at least if you can.

Protect your carpets

There are ways you can protect your carpet and to keep it cleaner for longer. Over time, carpets can easily get stained and so in order to help give that extra layer of defence, it’s worth finding a carpet protector. This can be something like the Devine Rug Clean, which is a lifetime product that helps protect rugs and carpets from staining. Be sure always to check the type of carpet you have and any rugs that might be made out of materials that may not work with these products.

Use carpet fresheners weekly

Carpets can start to smell a little funky after a while, and although vacuuming can do the job in making it clean, carpets don’t get the same treatment as wooden flooring which usually gets mopped up with soapy water or a cleaning solution. There are carpet fresheners out there though that will work just as well to make your carpets smell clean. Normally you’d apply it to your carpet, wait a few minutes and then hoover it up. If you’re doing this on a weekly basis, then you’ll certainly notice a difference in the smell of any rooms with carpet in them.

Get the floors professionally cleaned

Just like you would have an annual clean of your home, it’s good to think about having your floors professionally cleaned. It’s something you could do annually or whenever you feel the carpets and floors need a deep clean. It’s also worth having it done before you move out of a property too because it provides the new tenants with some fresher flooring. When searching for a carpet cleaner, ensure that that they have done a patch test with their cleaning products because the last thing you want is your carpets or floors reacting badly to it. That will be an expensive floor clean indeed.

Keeping your floors clean is important, especially if you have any young children crawling or walking around. Use the carpet fresheners and don’t forget to keep the floors and carpets clean on a weekly or monthly basis at least.
